There are many different things that go into building your business’s image. But did you know that color alone can improve brand recognition by up to 80%? Because of this, it’s important to ensure that you not only have a color scheme that can stand out from the competition but one that is easily integrated into your website and marketing content. To help you understand the importance of color further, here is what you need to keep in mind.

Why Color Is Important in Web Design

Color is particularly important for website design because of its first impression. Many potential customers get their first impressions from your business’s website and its color scheme can make them feel a certain way about your business. Thanks to the easy accessibility of search engines, online interactions have become one of the most important sources of customer relations and retention.

Ask any local web designer and they will tell you that colors on your website can be used to evoke emotions, highlight relative information, and boost overall brand recognition. All of the colors are subconsciously taken in by site visitors promoting either a pleasant experience or a negative one. For instance, if your website features an overwhelmingly bright palette that isn’t easy to view, customers will be more likely to click away from your site. You want your color scheme to work harmoniously with your business, not contradict your style or philosophy.

Picking Harmonious Colors

While a local web designer can help you choose the most complementary color schemes, you can get a head start yourself by considering the color wheel. Harmonious colors can be broken down into four different groups:

  • Analogous: These colors are comprised of any three colors which lie side by side on a 12 part color wheel. For instance, if you start at the primary blue color, you can include two other colors falling either on the purple end or the green end of the spectrum.
  • Complementary: These colors are the ones that lie directly opposite each other on the color wheel. Consider red and green, yellow and purple, or orange and blue. Color schemes like this are bold and complement each other well, hence why many popular sports teams utilize this strategy.
  • Triad: Triad colors form a triangle shape on the color wheel. An example of this is orange, green, and purple or red, blue, and yellow.
  • Monochromatic: This color scheme can be good for businesses that want to settle on one single color but in many shades. A lot of companies favor this approach as having one specific identifying color can make them stand out easier. You should take into account competitor’s colors if following this method as you don’t want to end up having the same shades.

Local web designers should be familiar with companies in the nearby area, as well as their specific color patterns. Because of this, you can diversify easier by relying on your designer’s professional knowledge. Many web design companies will also be able to help you integrate these colors into your website to help it further stand out, while still being a pleasant navigation experience for visitors.

If you’re struggling with nailing down or integrating your companies color scheme so that it can benefit your business, consider enlisting the help of a professional local web designer.
